GTA 6 Launch Trailer: Breakdown, Song and Every Detail

What the Launch Trailer is

The Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer is a 90-second video Rockstar Games released on October 15, 2026, without any advance announcement. It went live on Rockstar's YouTube channel, X account and the official GTA VI website at the same time, and passed roughly two million YouTube views within hours.

Rockstar says the trailer was captured entirely in-game on a PlayStation 5. It arrives five weeks before the game's November 19 release and four weeks before pre-load opens on November 12.

The story setup

Rockstar's description frames the plot in one line: Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them, and when an easy score goes wrong they end up in a criminal conspiracy stretching across Leonida, forced to rely on each other more than ever.

Where An Extended Look was 27 minutes of systems and open world, the Launch Trailer is mood and story. It leans on cutscenes and on Jason and Lucia as a couple rather than on gameplay mechanics.

What it shows

Based on early press coverage of the trailer, the main beats include:

• Jason's past, with hints about his time in the army and how he ended up working in the Keys
• Quiet, intimate scenes between Jason and Lucia, including a shower scene with story dialogue in the background
• A close look at Lucia's ankle monitor, which coverage expects to matter in the story
• A plane sequence, swamp and wetland scenes, and car chases
• Familiar faces from Trailer 2's cast, including Raul Bautista and Cal
• Vice City and the Leonida Keys

The song: Flower in a Hurricane

The trailer debuts Flower in a Hurricane, a new standalone single from Justice, the French electronic duo who composed GTA VI's original score. It features Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

The single is part of GTA VI: The Album, the official soundtrack, which is available to pre-save on streaming services and to pre-order on vinyl or CD. Earlier trailers used licensed songs: Tom Petty for Trailer 1 and The Pointer Sisters for Trailer 2.
